I created this makeup on the 9th July at Parramatta River. It was an extremely windy day and I was doing the makeup on a bench/on the ground. It was extremely uncomfortable, and hard to see what I was doing. It was 3pm that I started and we were under the shade, which meant I was hardly getting any light. I also realised only later, that because I got the model to re-position herself towards the sun, it also meant she was towards the wind. Needless to say, the makeup didn’t turn out the best because the wind was causing the model’s eye’s to water every 2 seconds and she couldn’t keep her eyes open for more than that length of time. The makeup kept running because of her tears and the glue on the singular eyelashes were getting loose. Eventually two lashes fell (after an hr). I kept having to reapply everything which made us go overtime. Luckily I finished at 4:30pm, meaning the photographer and I had 30 minutes until the sun had set. Next time, I’ll be sure to meet the photographer with the model after I have applied makeup, done the hair and styled her outfit at his/her location. This will ensure I have a lot more time to focus on the actual makeup rather than worry about fixing things that kept getting ruined, the model and myself will be a lot warmer (hand wont shake due to coldness), we’ll both be a lot more comfortable (positioning- I’ll be standing up, she’ll be sitting down, and she will be sitting on an ergonomic chair), there will be light for optimum work, her makeup will be fresh, my things will be on a table rather than cluttered on the ground and messy.
After a lot of fixing, the end result turned out not so bad considering the many uncomfortable conditions we were both in. I was inspired by the dress the model is wearing, which I bought for my self (but let her use for the shoot) recently as well as my own makeup tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfbWSYYk-Sg. In fact, this makeup tutorial was inspired by the dress as well. I wanted a look that would fit perfectly for this particular dress as I have a lot of love for it. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this blog post. It’s a little different from what I usually post (pictures).xx,
Mary
